This is one of the most frequent statements I hear from people thinking about working in the data industry. "I don't have a lot of experience with math, therefore I don't think I can do this,"
And I get why. Chances are if you google “What maths do I need to know to become a data scientist?” you’ll end up with a list as long as your arm, which includes things likeprobability, calculus, linear algebra, trigonometry, differential equations, functions, geometry, statistics… and so on.
Fortunately, even while some of the items on that list are necessary for you to be familiar with in order to work in data, the truth is that you don't actually need to have a thorough understanding of "maths" as a profession in order to get started. Calculus, linear algebra, and statistics are often the primary three you do need to be knowledgeable in.
Junior level vs Senior level
Making the distinction between how much knowledge is required for a junior versus senior function is also crucial.
As a junior, you probably won't be in charge of developing and implementing models, but rather performing more of the low-level data cleaning job.
