The Outsiders Summary

Ponyboy Curtis is a 14-year-old boy who lives with his brothers, Sodapop and Darry, on the east side of Tulsa, Oklahoma. ponyboy’s brothers are both members of a gang called the greasers. The greasers are constantly in fights with a rival gang called the Socs.

One night, Ponyboy and his friends, Johnny Cade and Dally Winston, go to a movie theater. There, they are attacked by a group of Socs. Johnny stabs one of the Socs in self-defense and they all flee the scene.

The three boys go to an abandoned church in Windrixville to the hideout. While they are there, they discover that the church will be demolished. Ponyboy and Johnny decide to stay in the church to prevent it from being destroyed.

While they are staying in the church, Ponyboy reads an old copy of Gone with the Wind. The book makes him think about the differences between the Socs and the greasers. He comes to the conclusion that both groups are victims of circ*mstance.

Eventually, the police find out that Ponyboy and Johnny are in the church. Dally comes to their rescue and helps them escape.
