Tugboats in Rust are protected from griefing by an authorization system. When players claim a tugboat, they need to interact with the helm in the wheelhouse and hold E. This will spawn an authorization screen, which gives certain players the privilege to add or remove deployables on the boat.

For example, using fire-based ballistics results in impact damage since the ship is immune to fire. At the time of writing, one of the best ways to bring down an enemy tugboat in Rust is by using eight Time Explosive Charges.
