Don't know as much about NIL in baseball compared to football.
Is this true?
"1. LSU has out hit us, having hit the ball hard against all of our pitchers. We have not done that against their pitching. Absent Honeycutt's HR's not a lot of consistent good contact and lots of K's. You knew LSU has great arms, the best that NIL money can buy, but we need consistent good contact tonight, knowing that LSU will surely hit our pitching. Our fielding and some key double plays have saved us (or kept us in the game).
2. We have to play loose.
3. We can't have a "cull" performance by one of our pitchers. Those two walks back to back with no outs killed us, no offense to the young man.
4. Honeycutt / Cook / Harbor need to hit the ball."

So they mention that we have transfer arms as if that's a pejorative but then talk about how important their transfer first baseman is?

I’m not sure. I guess that’s in regards to the UCLA and other various transfers.

I’m hoping UNC feels the pressure for being so “great,” while finally facing adversity this season.

I mean, LSU did get Jump and Holman, but Jump had connections to Jay already.
Other SEC teams are right there with us. Montgomery picked Texas AM over us, Amick picked Tenn over us.
LSU is in the top tier baseball NIL wise, we are considered the best program in history. all of USC championships were a long arse time ago. We have 7 since 1990 and no one else is even close.

I’m not sure I agree with that but they have pitched well when it matters. UNC has good arms too but I haven’t been blown away with any of them.

Not at the end of the day. I'm just curious. I don't ever hear anything about NIL and baseball.

Competitive sports is always about money. Even when it was “amateur” athletics, it was about money. Complaining about it is like complaining about the weather. Pointless.

Best arms NIL can buy?
I hope that is true. That is necessary in today’s landscape.

It's the day and age we live in.
But we're not some Johnny-come-latelys that bought our way into this like A&M tried to do with football.
We have led in paid and actual attendance for going on 40 years now. It's not like we started caring about baseball 10 minutes ago when NIL started.

Jump and Hurd were both on Jay's radar from his time out west
Both were unproven due to injuries at the college level
Holman was due to a coaching change
Skenes was due to Jay's relationship with Air Force coach
One thing Jay does not delegate is recruiting and he works harder at it then most head coaches. Most schools send their assistants on the road to recruit and don't like when Jay shows up himself.
It's no different then Braswell, what Jay saw in his potential outweighed how South Carolina utilized him. He contacted Braswell within an hour of him hitting portal because of what he saw in his potential and what his coaching could do for him.

Due to popularity of baseball at LSU, we have some NIL deals in baseball and probably more than most schools. But if Gordon McKernan was accurate on the radio in that LSU's 2023 Football team had a total of $4 million worth of NIL deals, then some of the numbers being thrown around on message board for baseball NIL deals is grossly exaggerated. It was posted on the recruiting board that Konnor Griffin had an NIL deal that could rival is signing bonus which is expected to be around $7 million. That's just nonsense.

Everyone has as much access to the portal as we do. If we do a better job of using it, then that’s not our problem. We won before the NIL became a reality. What was the excuse then? We recruited better?
